What players say
Players describe the original TF40 305 18x20 as a control-first, low-power frame with a connected, comfortable feel and predictable depth. It rewards players who supply their own pace and swing fully, with a devoted following among club-level all-court and baseline players. Complaints center on its low launch angle, occasional head-heavy feel once lead is added, and a stiff sensation until strings break in.
Best for
- Intermediate to advanced all-court players
- Players who generate their own pace
- Counterpunchers wanting precision over power
- Players upgrading from classic control frames
Pros
- Connected, intuitive feel described as 'good' and comfortable
- Predictable depth and launch angle for consistent targeting
- Solid, stable response on off-center hits and against heavy hitters
- Enough spin and power for most players despite the dense pattern
Cons
- Low inherent power; needs a full, technically sound swing
- Lower launch angle than some players prefer
- Can feel head heavy once lead tape is added
- Strings/frame feel stiff before breaking in for some players
- Slightly unwieldy for players used to lighter, more maneuverable frames
