Babolat RPM Rough 16/1.30 String
Line: RPM Rough
$21.00
RPM Rough is the textured version of RPM Blast, one of the most popular co-polys ever made. Like the standard RPM Blast, this string is a co-polymer monofilament with an octagonal shape and a special cross-linked silicone coating. RPM Rough is perfect for aggressive players who like to attack the ball with long, fast strokes. Our playtesters found it a tad softer and more powerful than the original RPM Blast, resulting in a slightly more penetrating shot. With its grippy surface, you'll find plenty of bite for bringing the ball down with spin. The durability is also quite high, making this a great option for string breakers.

What players say
Players describe RPM Rough as a softer, more arm-friendly take on RPM Blast, with a textured octagonal profile that adds extra bite and spin over the smooth original. Tennis Warehouse playtesters and customer reviewers are mostly positive, but some note the string gets livelier and less predictable once it loses tension, so it needs a timely restring to stay at its best.
Best for
- Aggressive baseliners wanting extra spin
- Players moving from multifilament into poly
- Hybrid mains or crosses
- Players who find RPM Blast too stiff
Pros
- More bite and spin than smooth RPM Blast thanks to the textured surface
- Softer, more arm-friendly feel than the original RPM Blast
- Several users say it holds tension and playability longer than standard RPM
- Predictable ball path, with testers calling out the slice as a strength
Cons
- Power and control get erratic once the string loses tension
- Still stiff compared to true arm-friendly strings
- Feel came across as muted and disconnected to at least one playtester
- Tennis Warehouse testers say it needs restringing within a few weeks to stay predictable

Great balance of spin and lack of harshness. Can play full bed at 48-50 pounds with no discomfort.

Unlike regular RPM, this rough version holds tension well and maintains its playability longer.

The ball path is very predictable, and you always feel in control, no matter whether you play flat or spin shots.
