Babolat RPM Rough 17/1.25 String
Line: RPM Rough
$21.00
RPM Rough is the textured version of RPM Blast, one of the most popular co-polys ever made. Like the standard RPM Blast, this string is a co-polymer monofilament with an octagonal shape and a special cross-linked silicone coating. RPM Rough is perfect for aggressive players who like to attack the ball with long, fast strokes. Our playtesters found it a tad softer and more powerful than the original RPM Blast, resulting in a slightly more penetrating shot. With its grippy surface, you'll find plenty of bite for bringing the ball down with spin. The durability is also quite high, making this a great option for string breakers.

What players say
Reviewers agree RPM Rough 17 generates strong spin thanks to its textured, grippy surface, and that it feels softer and more powerful than smooth RPM Blast. The trade-off most people report is short playability: tension and bite fade within a couple of hours or a few matches, and some players find the livelier response costs them control.
Best for
- Aggressive baseliners who hit heavy topspin
- Players moving from full poly to a softer, arm-friendlier poly
- Players who restring often or break strings
Pros
- Strong, grabby spin from the rough texture
- Softer and more arm-friendly than standard RPM Blast
- Good durability against breakage
- More power/pop than original RPM Blast, helpful for players needing pace
Cons
- Loses tension and bite quickly, often within one to a few sessions
- Can feel too lively or unpredictable once it breaks in, hurting control
- Thin 17 gauge trades durability for the extra spin/feel
- Feel can turn muted and disconnected as it wears

The spin potential was good for a lively, textured co-poly string. It grabbed the ball well at impact.

This is a pretty powerful option compared to other polyester strings out there...I didn't find the control I would've liked.

The Rough version played noticeably livelier than the original RPM Blast...the tension began to drop, and then I found the string to be a bit too lively.

I found this string to lose tension and playability quite quickly...cut it out after about 2-3 weeks.

This string offers the most topspin and it is very noticeable... after three matches or two long matches the magic spin is gone.
