Line: Live Wire

Live Wire Technology exposes the polymeric materials in the string to "an advanced, super high energy, Gamma irradiation process. This process energizes the molecules and accelerates the cross linkage (bonding) between the molecules by more than 25% to create Live Wire monofibers. This increased cross linkage provides greater dynamic resiliency and greater elasticity, compared to other synthetic materials." Live Wire 16 offers "ultimate playability and all around performance for superior feel, maximum power, and control."

What players say
Data on the Gamma Live Wire 17/1.27 is thin and limited to Tennis Warehouse customer comments; no YouTube, Reddit, or editorial playtest coverage turned up. Recent buyers rate it highly and compare the feel to natural gut, though durability and spin are the recurring trade-offs, and older customer feedback on the string is more mixed.
Best for
- Players wanting a gut-like feel at lower cost
- Flat-ball hitters who want control
- Arm or elbow comfort
- Hybrid stringing as a main or cross
Pros
- Recent buyers rate it highly (4.8/5 across 4 current reviews) and describe a gut-like response
- Holds tension well according to current reviewers
- A couple of reviewers report it eased arm or elbow discomfort
- Provides pocketing and some pop for players who swing with spin
Cons
- Durability is limited for heavy spin players; one reviewer got about two sets
- Older customer feedback (pre-2022) is mixed, with some calling it too soft, low on feel, or weak for topspin
- Two of the four current reviews are flagged by the retailer as promotional, which may inflate the recent rating
- No independent lab or editorial playtest found, only retailer customer comments

lasts round 2 sets. I hit with a lot of spin, though.

Because it is very close to real gut, I pre-stretch it 10% during stringing.

Love it so much so now I don't have to wear a brace around my arm.
