What players say
Independent review data on this exact reel is thin, but it is the same 16-gauge natural Live Wire XP sold in set form, which has a USRSA playtest panel review and a couple of Tennis Warehouse customer reviews. Testers rated it above average for comfort, touch, power, and control, but below average for spin and tension holding, with mixed results on durability.
Best for
- Players wanting a comfortable, arm-friendly multifilament
- Players upgrading from original Live Wire who want more durability
- All-court and serve-and-volley players who value touch over spin
- Hybrid setups pairing a poly cross with this as the comfort main
Pros
- Comfortable and soft without feeling dead, rated above average for comfort and touch by the playtest panel
- Above-average power and control scores for a multifilament in panel testing
- Some testers found it held up well, with above-average durability and good snap on the ball
- Customer reviewers call it a good-value soft multifilament, including in a poly hybrid
Cons
- Below-average spin potential and below-average tension holding in panel scoring
- Several testers reported tension dropping off quickly and the string going muted or dead within hours
- Durability was inconsistent: some testers broke it early while others rated it above average
- Very little review coverage exists outside Tennis Warehouse's own panel and customer reviews

This could well be the best 'all-around' string I've ever used. Both playability and durability were well above average.

This is a very comfortable and playable string. It lost tension fairly quickly and didn't generate much spin however.

Nice comfort string but didn't offer any other top qualities to compete with NXT or TNT.

If you are looking for a soft multifilament string, Gamma Live Wire XP is an excellent choice, especially given its price.
