Introducing a special edition of Grapplesnake's flagship round poly, Tour Mako. This one is called Tour Mako Short Fin and unlike the original, it features a six-sided profile to help with bite and spin. Under the hood, this co-poly features the same base material as Tour M8, but adds softening agents, making it a great "starter poly" for players with lighter rackets or transitioning into the polyester universe. It's also ideal for poly veterans looking to reduce the load on tendons and joints. Although its profile is similar to that of Alpha and Tour Sniper , the feel is markedly different, offering a level of comfort not always seen in the polyester realm. All in all, this string features some of the best all-around performance we've seen from Grapplesnake, rivaling Tour M8 with its accessible and playable nature. Although it possesses slightly less snapback than the round version, Tour Mako Short Fin still snaps back effectively, and the grippy profile makes it extremely spin-friendly. Tour Mako Short Fin comes in a subtle cream color in a 1.25 mm option.

What players say

Coverage of this limited cream-colored Tour Mako variant is thin, limited to one detailed hands-on review. That reviewer found strong spin and tension stability but a stiff, firm feel that hurt touch at net and on off-center hits.

Best for

  • Aggressive baseliners with heavy topspin swings
  • Open string patterns
  • Players who prioritize spin over touch

Pros

  • High spin potential with aggressive snap-back
  • Holds tension well, stayed playable after 10 hours
  • Controlled power from spin and depth rather than raw pop
  • Spin feel improved after an hour or two of break-in

Cons

  • Firm, almost rigid feel on off-center hits
  • Poor touch and feel at net, felt disconnected on volleys
  • Below-average comfort for a poly, firmer impact than softer co-polys
  • Requires a committed swing; unclear how it performs in control-oriented frames
