Babolat RPM Hurricane 17/1.25 String Reel - 660'
Line: RPM Hurricane
$209.00
Please note: this string's name has changed from Pro Hurricane Tour to RPM Hurricane. RPM Hurricane is big on control and spin. It's also quite firm, so we think it works best for intermediate to advanced baseliners with long, fast strokes. String breakers take note: this one offers excellent durability. The octagonal profile gives RPM Hurricane great bite, while the coating allows the strings to snap back with greater force. The result is a heavy ball loaded with spin, especially for players who swing big. Our topspin hitters noted that they could reach maximum swing speed because the spin brought the ball down so effectively. This is a great option for power baseliners who want the ultimate in spin, control, and durability.

Where to buy
What players say
Babolat RPM Hurricane (the renamed Hurricane Tour / Pro Hurricane Tour, not to be confused with the pricier RPM Blast) draws steady praise from buyers for durability, control, and spin bite from its octagonal profile. The trade-off reviewers flag again and again is a firm, fairly dead feel that gives little free power and is not kind to sore arms.
Best for
- Aggressive baseliners with long, fast swings
- Players who break strings often
- Control-first players who supply their own pace
- Budget-minded buyers wanting a Babolat poly
Pros
- Excellent durability; repeat buyers report restringing every 2-3 months instead of every few sets
- Strong control on full swings, lets players swing out without the ball sailing long
- Good spin bite credited to the octagonal profile
- Cheaper alternative to Babolat's flagship RPM Blast with a similar spin pitch
Cons
- Firm, fairly dead feel; Tennis Warehouse's staff test scored comfort well below control and durability
- Low power string, players must generate their own pace
- Not recommended for arm-sensitive players; stiffens further in cold weather
- Best suited to physically strong hitters, not moderate swingers

Provides great control and I feel like I can hit hard without worrying about the ball going long.

Strings never lasted more than a few sets. Now I rarely break a string.

Control is where the Pro Hurricane Tour really shines! Definitely a stiff and dead polyester.

Low power level allowed me to supply the power with a big swing. Got lots of spin.
