Reviewers and Tennis Warehouse playtesters agree RPM Soft is one of the most comfortable, arm-friendly monofilaments around, with strong power and good initial spin. The recurring complaint is notching: the string grips the ball well when fresh but strings stop snapping back within an hour or two of play, so spin and control fade faster than a standard polyester.
Best for
- Players with arm or elbow sensitivity
- Multifilament or gut users moving toward poly
- Players who restring often
- Juniors without heavy swing speed
Pros
- Very arm-friendly, among the most comfortable monofilaments tested
- Strong power and good ball pocketing
- Good spin and tension retention when fresh
- Easier to install than a typical polyester
Cons
- Notches quickly, strings stop snapping back within about an hour of hitting
- Spin and control drop off noticeably once notching starts
- Less durable and less precise than a true polyester monofilament like RPM Blast
