Weiss CANNON Scorpion 17L/1.22 String Reel - 660'
Line: Ion
$99.90
An excellent co-polymer string with some extra sting. The Weiss Cannon Scorpion offers all the control of a regular polyester but with more pop. We found some nice ball pocketing with this one resulting in excellent spin, control, ball speed and a softer hitting experience.

What players say
Player feedback on the Weiss CANNON Scorpion 17L/1.22 is thin but consistently positive, mostly from Tennis Warehouse customer reviews rather than independent testers or forum threads. Players describe it as a soft, arm-friendly co-poly with good control and reasonable power, including in hybrid setups with gut mains. One long-term user calls it above average in every category but not the best in any, and one older review reports the string bed stiffening and the sweet spot shrinking after a few hours of play.
Best for
- Hybrid setups with a gut or multifilament main
- Players wanting an arm-friendly poly
- Control-first baseliners
- Players comparing it against stiffer polys like Alu Power
Pros
- soft, arm-friendly feel compared to stiffer polys
- good control, rated above Pro Hurricane and Black Code by one user
- reasonable power and spin for a control string
- holds up well in long-term hybrid use (5+ years for one reviewer)
Cons
- very little independent or video review coverage exists for this exact model
- one reviewer reported the string bed stiffening and the sweet spot shrinking after a few hours
- retailer notes it is tension-sensitive, so performance varies with stringing tension

I like that it's very arm friendly, soft, still reasonably powerful, and has good control.
— George, Dallas, GA, Web
Compared to other strings like Pro Hurricane, Black Code this string has more control.
— Paul, Boston, MA, Web
plays much closer to the former than to the latter
— Mauro, Web
the stringbed became stiffer and stiffer and stiffer! And the sweetspot smaller, and smaller, and smaller!
