Ashaway Crossfire 17 Kevlar String
Line: Crossfire 17 Kevlar
$14.00
The 17 gauge Aramid (Kevlar) main strings are used for superior durability and resistance to notching. The 16 gauge synthetic gut cross strings are used to insure adequate flexibility and ball control by complementing the stiff 16 Kevlar mains. This hybrid string combination is recommended for power players with heavy topspin or chronic string breakage problems. Many advanced players have found this hybrid combination to be the string that will stand up to their power game. Rated as the number one string for durability by the stringers' survey for many years.

What players say
Long-time users on Tennis Warehouse praise this Kevlar/synthetic gut hybrid for durability and a surprisingly controlled, non-harsh feel at lower tensions. Some pair the Kevlar mains with a thin poly cross for added spin and longer life, though the stock synthetic gut cross can notch quickly against the aramid mains.
Best for
- Chronic string breakers
- Players wanting a cheap durable hybrid
- Arm-sensitive players stringing low
- Those who want to add a poly cross for spin
Pros
- Exceptional durability, lasting weeks to months even for heavy hitters
- Comfortable and controlled feel at lower tensions (45-50 lbs), easier on the arm
- Stays lively rather than going dead quickly
- Works well as a hybrid base with a thinner poly cross for extra spin
Cons
- Stock synthetic gut cross notches quickly against the Kevlar mains and can lock up the string bed
- Not a spin string on its own without swapping the cross

I've been using these for 30 years! I always come back to these because they give me a more controlled feel.

I hybrid this with a 19 gauge poly. The result is better pocketing, better spin and a long lasting setup.

After almost 8 years...very lively...durable. I love it. Warning -- this is a very addicting type string.

Great spin from the baseline...creates great slice...lasts about a month playing 8 hours weekly.
